Pilar Herreros was blessed to come from a beautiful village on the Island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Narrow streets and the sound of church bells gave the village a serenity and heartfulness that filled her childhood. Pilar brings that sense of calm and peaceful joy to her work as a Pilates instructor as well as a meditation and Reiki Master.
Pilar was a sensitive, expressive modern dancer who, like many instructors, came across Pilates through the dance world. As a child, Pilar was drawn to movement and originally studied dance in Madrid. Having an affinity for teaching, she was certified through the Imperial Society of Dance Teachers. Circumstances led her to Miami where she studied with Deborah Salkov who combined Pilates, body conditioning and dance technique in her classes. Pilar continued her dance studies at New World School of the Arts, and performed with the highly acclaimed choreographer Bridget Baker. She later began teaching in the school's theater department.
Her mentors Deborah Salkov and Alba Calzada were both accomplished Pilates instructors who taught with careful focus on body alignment and posture. Following in their footsteps Pilar was certified in Pilates through the Physical Mind Institute, Core Dynamics and various courses with Polestar for rehabilitation.
Observing her clients, Pilar became deeply interested in how the mind influenced the body. She began an in depth exploration of meditation and yoga and became a certified Reiki practitioner and Life Coach.
Pilar is grateful to be working with Kathy and Francine for over 15 years and brings an intuitive and healing element to the practice. She has just completed a Self Help book called Within You Anytime, Anywhere. A five minute practice to reduce anxiety and increase harmony in daily life. She takes great pleasure in empowering clients' bodies, minds and spirits toward a more positive path. A perfect addition to the studio.
Francine Williams, a Miami native, has more than twenty years of experience in the Pilates Method. She received her certification through Core Dynamics, an Eve Gentry inspired practice led by Michele Larsson and Kevin Bowen (Co-founder of the Pilates Method Alliance). She is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance. She has continued her Pilates education with training in areas such as Pregnancy and Post-Partum, Osteoporosis and Scoliosis with experts including Michele Larsson, Dawn-Marie Ickes, Julian Littleford and Laure Felton. Her passion is spreading the movement of Pilates with children.
She believes, as Joseph Pilates intended, that everyone should have the privilege of learning this method of movement.
Francine has a BS in Public Relations from the University of Florida and pursued graduate work in Creative Writing at FIU. She has been married to David Williams, a native of Wales, for more than 25 years. They live in Pinecrest, FL with their three beautiful children.
